1. Go Snorkeling in a Secluded Bay with Fish Feeding

Krabi features excellent water quality for snorkeling, especially on the islands off the coast. The water is so transparent and blue that you can clearly see schools of colorful tropical fish swimming nearby. Sprinkle a handful of breadcrumbs, and they’ll flock to you. Koh Lanta is the best snorkeling spot in Krabi. Located at the southernmost tip of Krabi province, Landa is a national park dotted with several beautiful islets surrounded by coral reefs. In just one day, you can visit four islands in a row, including Chicken Island, Poda Island, Mor Island, and Tup Island. Chicken Island gets its name from the fact that it is shaped like a rooster. See lots of strange-shaped stalactites on Tup Island. Mor Island is endowed with clear water and fine sand, and is very close to Tup Island. There is a huge rock like a sailing ship on the sea of Poda Island. Many murals depicting ancient seafaring and fishing scenes can be seen in the caves by the sea.

4. Climb 1,237 Steps to Wat Tham Suea

Wat Tham Suea, aka Tiger Cave Temple, located about 8 kilometers from the center of town, is the most famous temple in Krabi. Best Time to Visit Krabi

Facing the Andaman Sea, Krabi is affected by the marine monsoon, with a hot climate first half of the year and rainy second half. The best time to visit Krabi is from November to March every year, which is also the peak tourist season in Krabi. The temperature in Krabi during these months ranges roughly from 19°C to 26°C. Tourists will enjoy mild sunshine, gentle sea breeze and sea waves. The sea temperature is comfortable for diving. Krabi welcomes abundant rainfall from April to October, when some attractions may be closed.

How to Get to Krabi?

Visitors can travel to Krabi by air, long-distance bus, and ship.

By Air

Krabi International Airport (KBV) is located about 7 km east of Krabi and offers mainly domestic flights and some international flights. There are direct flights to Krabi from Bangkok and Chiang Mai, which take 1 hour and 15 minutes and 1 hour and 55 minutes respectively. The airport in Krabi is only a 30-minute drive from the beach resort. A taxi from the airport to Krabi town is about 300 baht and to Ao Nang beach is about 400 baht. Krabi can be reached by direct flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, which take 1 hour and 25 minutes and 1 hour and 45 minutes respectively.

By Long-distance

Located 4 kilometers north of Krabi Town, Krabi Bus Station is accessible from Bangkok, Phuket Town, and other places. There are about 7 coaches per day between Bangkok and Krabi. The journey takes about 12 hours and the fare starts from 400 THB. Buses from Phuket Town to Krabi run every hour and take 3-4 hours. Air-conditioned buses cost 120 THB and regular buses cost about 70 THB.

By Ferry

Speedboats or ferries are the main means of transportation from other islands to Krabi. The speedboat ride from Phuket to Krabi takes about 2 hours and costs around 1,200 baht. During the rainy season (May – October), boats are likely to be cancelled due to rough seas.

How to Get around Krabi?

Convenient transportation makes getting around Krabi quite easy. Tourists can take different means of transportation according to their needs, such as tuk-tuks, taxis & songthaews, charter cars, motorcycles, and long-tail boats.


The beachfront in Ao Nang is full of tuk-tuks, which can take you to most places in the area for about 50 baht per person.

Taxi & Songthaew

Cabs are convenient and quick to explore Krabi. Make sure to negotiate the price with the driver before getting in. Usually, a cab ride from Krabi Town to Ao Nang Beach costs about 300 baht.

From Ao Nang Beach back to Krabi Town, you can take a songthaew. The songthaew is a type of local bus that provides a cheap transportation service. It costs 50 baht per person from Ao Nang Beach to Krabi and 100 baht to the Tiger Cave Temple.

Chartered Car

Chartered cars are the most comfortable means of transportation to visit Krabi and are an ideal choice for families with kids. The price of a vehicle varies depending on the size and luxury, with a medium-sized 5-seater costing about 1,000 baht a day and a 7-seater costing about 1,500 baht a day.


Motorcycles can take you anywhere you want to go in Krabi for around 250 baht a day. If you can’t find a rental store on the street, you can ask your hotel receptionist. You are not required to have a driver’s license, but will need to put your passport as collateral. Remember to obey the traffic rules and wear a helmet.

Long-tail Boat

There are many islands near Krabi, such as Phi Phi Islands and Koh Lanta, and also the Railay Beach can only be accessed by water, so boats have become the main means of travel. Private long-tail boats are preferred by many travelers for short trips. During the high season (November-March), there are speedboats operating.
