Navigating the country’s entry regulations is crucial to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience while exploring the beautiful islands and vibrant culture of this Southeast Asian gem. Whether you’re a tourist seeking white sandy beaches or a business traveler attending meetings in Manila, understanding the latest travel restrictions and guidelines is paramount for a successful journey. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the key points of entry, visa requirements, health and safety protocols, and other essential information that will help you make the most of your visit to the Philippines.

What are the travel requirements to the Philippines?

Here are some general instructions to follow when planning a trip to the Philippines:

  • Make sure your passport remains valid for a minimum of six months beyond your planned entry date into the Philippines.
  • Depending on your nationality and the duration of your stay, you may require a visa. As of now, travelers from 157different countries can enjoy a visa-free entry to the Philippines for up to 30 days.
  • Prior to your departure to the Philippines, it’s essential to complete the Electronic Travel Declaration (eTravel) online form within 72 hours. This form is available for free and is mandatory for all travelers, including Filipino citizens.
  • Ensure you have confirmed tickets for your onward journey unless you happen to be the spouse or child of a Filipino national or a former Filipino citizen with Balikbayan privileges.
  • Depending on your specific circumstances, you may be asked to present additional documents like a school or company ID, an emigration clearance certificate, or a travel pass, among others.

How to register Electronic Travel Declaration (eTravel)

The Electronic Travel Declaration for the Philippines is a requirement for travelers who want to enter or leave the country. You can apply for it online by following these simple steps:

  1. Go to the official E-Travel website (https://etravel.gov.ph) and make sure it is the authentic one. You do not need to pay any fee to get the eTravel QR Code.
  2. Fill out the online form with your travel information, such as your email address and arrival date. Agree to the data privacy terms and click “Continue.”
  3. Provide your personal details, such as your name, passport number, gender, date of birth, nationality, country of birth, and phone number. If you have a job, indicate your occupation. Click “Next.”
  4. Enter your full address, including your house or unit number.
  5. Complete the section about your travel specifics, such as your date of arrival, country of origin, reason for travel, flight number, airline name, airport of arrival, and your traveler type. Click “Next.”
  6. Proceed to fill out the Health Declaration Form, including your vaccination status and any history of exposure or illness within the past 30 days. Click “Next.”
  7. After completing the form, submit it and wait for a confirmation email that will contain a QR code or barcode.
  8. When you receive the confirmation email, make sure to print the QR code or save it on your device. You will need to show it when you arrive or depart from the airport.

The E-Travel system is the Philippines’ latest and sole mandatory health form for travelers. It has superseded previous forms like the eArrival Card, the One Health Pass, and the e-CIF (mentioned as 12). This new form is more concise and easier to complete than its predecessors.

Please be aware that the QR code is valid solely for boarding a flight to or from the Philippines within 72 hours after you’ve finished the online registration. Once it’s scanned by a border officer upon arrival or departure, it cannot be used again.
