1. Angkor Night Market

Angkor Night Market, commonly known as the Original Night Market, tops the night markets in Siem Reap. As the city’s first and most renowned night shopping venue, it was built in 2007. Featuring over 240 shops, the night market offers a wide variety of things to see and eat, including silk paintings, stone carvings, and intricate shadow puppets. Some Cambodian cultural goods are especially popular, such as colorful bandanas, souvenirs shaped from Angkor Wat, and some beautiful silver jewelry.

2. The Old Market (Phsar Chas)

The Old Market in Siem Reap is undoubtedly the true heart of the city and it is also one of the must-visit attractions in Siem Reap. Also called Phsar Chas, this great market just offers everything you are looking for, from typical Khmer handicrafts, jewelry, and paintings, to some quality locally made items. There are also plenty of seafood, meat, fresh eggs, poultry, fish, spices, vegetables, and herbs. Most shops here open from 8:00 AM and some close by sunset. More shops choose to close by 8:00 PM. In addition, the Khmer food here may be a little spicy for foreign visitors but it is worth having a try!

3. Siem Reap Art Center Night Market

Situated just right opposite the Old Market (Phsar Chas), it is in fact not an art center but full of shops selling souvenirs and local handicrafts including silk shawls, art decorations, and clothes. Do wander across the river to the Art Market after shopping in the Phsar Chas. More shopping options are here and you can find some decent artworks in the art stalls in the back of the market. Sometimes you may also have a chance to enjoy a free Apsara traditional dance performance in the Art Center Market.

4. Noon Night Market

Situated near the Angkor Night Market, Noon Night Market is well worth a visit as it opens from mid-day to mid-night and offers a wide range of good products, such as bronze and wood carvings, handicraft items, souvenirs, and paintings. Although it is lightly smaller than other markets, it has no less charm. Not cluttered with stuff, the market is less crowded and you can go shopping more comfortably. The most authentic Khmer food and local delicacies like fish amok, lok lak and spring rolls can be enjoyed here. Also, there is an ATM in the market and some shops can accept credit cards. Another unique thing about the market is that 10% of the profits will be donated to a charity called ‘Happy Family Orphanage’.

5. Phnom Penh Night Market

Situated on the riverfront close to Phnom Penh’s downtown area, this local night market just opens for weekends. 6. Central Market

This is not a typical night market, but you can wander around it in the evening. The Central Market is also known as Phsar Thmei. As the most well-known and largest market in the city, it is full of stalls selling jewelry, gems, souvenirs, homeware, food, silverworks, and handicrafts. Established in 1937, the market also boasts being an art deco landmark in Phnom Penh as it sits under a dome. It welcomes local people and tourists every day for goods shopping and you can definitely find the souvenirs or paintings you want.
