  1. Welcome to Myanmar! Upon your arrival at Yangon, your local English-speaking guide and driver will greet you at the arrival hall, and then transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

    After a short break, follow your guide to get your first glance at the city. See many colonial architectures pass through one by one while you are on a scenic drive. Driving through the Strand Hotel, Post Office, Mahabandoola Garden, and Independence Monument until you get to the Scott Market (aka Bogyoke Aung San Market, close on Monday and gazette Holiday ). With various handicrafts, gem shops, wood carvings, fabrics, etc., the market is one of the most lively markets in Yangon where you can look into local’s life and buy some Burmese souvenirs.

    Then, head to the Chaukhtatyi Pagoda to see the image of a giant reclining Buddha. Move on to the Kandawgyi Park and Karawik Palace on the bank of Kandawgyi Lake for some great photo opportunities.

    Afterward, head to the Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, where you can enjoy the stunning sunset and peaceful people watching when locals doing their end-of-the-day prayers. The 99 meters high golden dome is said to be plastered with 60 tons of pure gold.

  2. After breakfast, board a flight to Bagan which boasts over 2,000 ancient pagodas. You will follow your guide to see some of the best pagodas in the Bagan Archaeological Zone, including Ananda Pagoda, Htilominlo and Dhammayangyi Temple, etc.

    Then, visit a lacquerware workshop and a woodcraft workshop to see how local handicraftsmen make these two most famous handicrafts in Bagan. You will be left with free time to talk with the handicrafts-men and see how they use traditional techniques to make unique artworks.

    In the late afternoon, drive to the jetty to hop on a sightseeing cruise from where you can enjoy the idyllic landscape of Bagan, and see the life of local fishermen. If the weather is good, you will get a chance to capture the breathtaking sunset over the river.

    Drive back to your hotel after the cruise.

  3. After breakfast, follow your guide to visit Nyaung Oo Market (or Nyuang U Market) to see local people buy and sell their daily food and how they bargain.

    Then, explore a peaceful village in Bagan. Your guide will escort you to visit some local families so you can gain deeper insights into local life and culture.

    After that, drive to the airport for your flight to Mandalay.

  4. The second largest city in Myanmar, Mandalay is the former capital of the country which is known for its cultural diversity and a large number of monks. After breakfast, drive about 30 minutes to the Amarapura Ancient Town. Once the royal capital of Myanmar during Konbaung Dynasty, it is now the worship and academic center for Buddhism in Burma.

    Your first stop in Amarapura is Mahagandayon Monastery where you can look into the daily life of Burmese monks. Then, get to the U Bein Bridge, the oldest wooden bridge in the world and the biggest highlight in the ancient town. Move on to the Bagaya Monastery to admire plenty of superb Buddha statues.

    After lunch, embark on a short boat trip to Inwa (aka Ava), the ancient capital of central Myanmar from 1364 to 1555. Located on the left bank of the Irrawaddy River, Ava will offer you a fascinating trip back in time. Follow your guide to discover several structures in 19th-century style, including Nanmyint Watch Tower, and Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery. Your last stop in Ava is Bargayar Monastery which is known for its excellent teakwood design and ornate wood carvings.

    Fulfill today’s trip with a visit to Sagaing Hill which is home to over 550 monasteries. You will visit a Monastic school to meet local monks, and go to the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda for a panoramic view of the Irrawaddy River.

  5. Check out your hotel in Mandalay before your driver transfer you to the airport to board your international departure flight. End of your 5 days Myanmar tour.
