Day-by-day Itinerary

  1. As your flight lands in Vientiane, your local guide and driver will be ready to welcome you at the Wattay International Airport and take you to have a city tour in Vientiane. You will be guided to the Patuxay monument to climb to the roof of Laos’ “Arc de Triomphe” for a bird view of the capital Vientiane.

    Before heading to your hotel for check-in, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

  2. After breakfast, follow your local driver and guide to visit Buddha Park (aka Wat Xieng Khouane). Though not a temple, it will entertain you with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The 40-meter-long reclining Buddha is a highlight here. Along the way, you can see the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge which connects Vientiane with Nong Khai in Thailand.

    After the visit to Buddha Park, transfer back to the city center for lunch (at your own expense). Then, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Luang Prabang.

    Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will be ready to welcome you at the airport and escort you to your hotel in Luang Prabang.

  3. Morning option: Today, you can get up early (at about 5:30 am) to catch the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings. Laos is the only Buddhist nation that still preserves this unique tradition.

    Back to the hotel for breakfast, then get to the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, the largest temple in Luang Prabang that will introduce you to characteristics of 16th-century Lao architecture: exquisite wall carvings, sweeping 2-tiered roof, and ornate mosaics, etc.

    Afterward, visit the National Museum (closed on Tuesday) which was the former royal palace of Luang Prabang, presenting a wealth of interesting artifacts.

    After lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense), drive to Kuang Si waterfalls. Upon arrival, you will immerse yourself into the beauty of this three-tiered waterfall when it flows through the limestone jungles and discharges into a series of cascading turquoise pools. You can either have fun around the turquoise pools or enjoy leisure walking along the forest trails.

    On the way back to the city center, you will pass the endless rice paddies and farms, and stop at some villages of the Hmong and Lao Loum people. You will be introduced to the life of local villagers, and get a rare chance to join in their daily work such as wooden cotton spinning, weaving, rice harvesting, etc.

  4. After breakfast, it’s time to challenge the Zipline course. The Zipline with 900 meters and 12 stops will offer you a chance to fly through the verdant valley, and beautiful Hoi Khua Waterfalls, and savor the rural views around Luang Prabang.

    In the afternoon, relax on an upstream cruise along the Mekong River before you reach the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. Located by the Mekong River, Pak Ou Caves are two linked caves, in which you’ll discover thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues.

    During the cruise to Pak Ou Caves, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along both banks of the Mekong River, and glimpse into local life by visiting Ban Xanghai village, villagers here are good at making local rice wine. Your guide will give a general introduction to the silk and Sa paper production process.

    Transfer back to the town at the end of the day.

  5. This morning, enjoy your free time in your hotel or explore the town before your driver picks you up at the appointed time. The driver will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. Your Laos trip end here.
