  1. Welcome to Laos! Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will be ready to welcome you at the airport and escort you to your hotel in Luang Prabang. Enjoy the afternoon by strolling around the riverside or visiting several ancient temples with your family.

    In the late afternoon, follow your local guide to visit Luang Prabang’s bustling night which offers various local food and handicrafts.

  2. After a hotel breakfast, start your Buddhist culture exploration in Luang Prabang today. You will get a rare chance to catch the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings. Visit Wat Mai, the most picturesque and most photographed temple in Luang Prabang, and then Wat Xieng Thong, the highest symbol of Buddhism in Laos, to appreciate characteristics of 16th-century Lao architecture.

    Continue today’s trip by visiting the Royal Palace Museum (closed on Tuesday) which presents a wealth of interesting artifacts. Then enjoy the panoramic view of Luang Prabang from the top of Mountain Phousi.

    You will join in the Baci ceremony at a local family where a local elder will honor visitors by chanting blessings and tieing white threads around your wrists.

  3. After breakfast, drive along the scenic route to Kuang Si Waterfalls. En route, you will run through the endless rice paddies and farms, stopping at some villages of H’mong and Lao Loum people. You will be introduced to the life of local villagers which has remained unchanged for centuries and get a rare chance to join in their daily works such as wooden cotton spinning, weaving, rice harvesting, etc.

    After arriving at Kuang Si Waterfalls, you will immerse yourself in the beauty of this three-tiered waterfall when it flows through the limestone jungles and discharges into a series of cascading turquoise pools. Expect to enjoy a refreshing swim, have fun around the turquoise pools or enjoy leisure walking along the forest trails.

    A gourmet picnic near the falls should be an enjoyable experience before you drive back to Luang Prabang. Then a book party at Big Brother Mouse is waiting for you and your kids. Any donations of reading materials will be appreciated here. Big Brother Mouse is a local non-profit charity organization that works to offer free libraries and reading materials for Laotian children.

    Get back to your hotel, the end of today’s trip.

  4. Today, you and your kids will enjoy a great time with elephants in Elephant Village Luang Prabang.

    This morning, your guide will pick you up at the hotel lobby at 8:00 am – 8:30 am, then drive to the Elephant Village Camp. Upon arrival, a welcome greeting together with a short briefing about elephants is arranged for you. Then, it is the dedicated time to spend with the lovely elephants. You will:
    Get up close with the elephants to feed them.
    Explore the elephant village that is facilitated with an elephant hospital, museum, gallery, and dung paper-making facility.
    Help elephants take a bath.
    Enjoy the one-on-one experience of being a Mahout.
    Hop on a traditional Lao long boat to get to the Tad Sae Waterfall for a relaxing swim. (recommended to prepare your swimsuit)

    After enjoying a buffet lunch at the Elephant Camp restaurant (with coffee/tea and drinking water, vegetarian options available.), transfer back to your hotel in Luang Prabang at about 1:00 pm. The rest of the day is free for you.

  5. After breakfast, your local driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Vientiane.

    Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will be ready to welcome you at the airport and accompany you for a Vientiane city tour.

    The first stop is Wat Sisaket, the oldest Buddhist wat in Vientiane, with over 10,000 miniature Buddha statues, row after row of sitting Buddhas, beautiful architecture, and a layout from hundreds of years ago.

    Followed by a visit to Haw Phra Kaew, the former royal temple, now a religious museum displaying numerous religious artworks and treasures.

    You will also move to the gold-covered Pha That Luang, a large Buddhist stupa in the city center that has been regarded as the national monument and symbol of Laos.

  6. After breakfast, be guided to Buddha Park (aka Wat Xieng Khouane). Though not a temple, it will entertain you with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The 40-meter-long reclining Buddha is a highlight here. It will be great fun for your kids to see some many quirky and different-sized statues.

    Then, you will be driven to the Vientiane international airport for your flight back home or to your next destination. End of your Laos family trip.
